Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath is located 12kms west of Amritsar on Chogwan road. The temple marks the significance of the Ramayan Period.
The Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath has so many temples and ancient tanks. It is believed to be the hermitage of Saint Valmiki.
The place is considered to be the birth-place of Lav-Kush sons of Lord Rama. Saint Valmiki offered shelter to Sita, wife of Rama when she was abandoned after Lanka Victory.
Ramayana, the great epic is considered to be written in this place by Saint Valmiki. It is also said that the great fight between Lord Ramachandra’s forces and Luv-Kush had also taken place in this place.

We visited the temple around 12.30 PM. The Temple premises presents a serene and soothing atmosphere to lakhs of people who visit this holy shrine every day.
Also, there are different shops situated near Temple premises that showcase traditional dresses of Punjab for women like Punjabi Salwar Suit, Phulkari Suits, Patiala Suits, and many Punjabi sweet shops.
Last but not least don’t forget to taste Lassi, Butter Chicken, Amritsari Fish, Amritsari Kulcha, Makkhi-di-Roti and Sarsoon-Ka-Saag, and Amritsari Kulfi while you are in Amritsar.
